There is a big hole in the front of my Durango that I need to fill.
A brand new radiator should do the trick, but I can never leave well enough alone...
With Gas prices at $2.31+/Gal right now, I thought I'd try the 'lectric fan, this new on from Flex-a-lite is 3300 CFM. It was just released.
It's exactly the right width, but not quite as tall as the core. I offset the fan to tthe top, since that's where the most heat is.
The shroud has this nice deep seal to help draw air through the radiator.
Here are some universal adjustable brackets.
There are two each of these brackets, they can be combined to make a clamping bracket
Here they are put together like a clamp
Since this is a fairly high-vibration installl, I covered the surfaces of clamping brackets that will contact the radiator with this rubber tape.
Here is the upper bracket clamped onto the radiator with the fan in place
I added these sheetmetal screws into the lip of the radiator. If you don't pay attention here you will turn a $350 radiator into junk.
Both brackets in place, viewed from front.

I had to do somethig to account for the offset of the shroud
I decided to use the adjustable brackets as standoffs.
I added a couple of fender washers to the included screws to hold the adjustable brackets together.
OK, upper brackets, lower brackets and standoffs fabricated, now for the wiring.
I made a penetration to the shroud to pass the convoluted shield through.
You have to extend the fan motor wiring with the included 10ga hookup wiire. I solder-spliced this connection. Also the splices are staggered.
I insulate automotive solder-splices with "Liquid Electrical tape" then scotch 33+
After the wires are fet back through the convoluted tubing, the assymbly is ready to be re-attached to the radiator.
OK, the package is ready to go back in. I hope it doesn't hit the water pump sharft.
Whew! it clears!
I routed the fan wiring along the factory wiring harness route, and the yellow tubing has the mercury bulb that goes into the radiator.
Here is the mercury bulb route into the upper radiator hose.
